Are there Alternatives to Feedheads, Readburner, and SharedReader?
If you are like me, then you are looking for ways to discover what other Google Reader users find interesting. There are two new alternatives available (Readburner and SharedReader) both of which were discovered and described by Louis Gray. These are in addition to the already existing Facebook application, Feedheads.
A better alternative may just be to subscribe to the shared pages from your favorite blogger, an approach which I have aggressively pursued. Bloggers who are actively using the shared feature of Google Reader are most likely advertising so somewhere on their blog (as I have in my sidebar). For myself, I have tagged these feeds which I have subscribed to as "Shared Items." I then made my "Shared Items" folder/tag public which would enable me to add a clip or blogroll to my blog.
The items that I share from my Google Reader reads are also publicly accessible. They are available as a page at http:
I have also uploaded my OPML file to bloglines at http://www.bloglines.com/public/SeekGround, an alternative I have not been satisfied with.
Just today, I rediscovered GRAZR where I can be found at http://grazr.com/blog/SeekGround. In effect, I was easily able to created my own "Shared Items Blogroll" widget which I can easily share. I must say that I am highly impressed with the possibilities of GRAZR an I am sure that I have barely scratched the surface of the possibilities offered by this site. I am considering putting this widget as a separate page on my blog. Want to be included? Drop me a comment and I will take your suggestion under consideration ;)
